If you haven’t heard of Affinity Circles yet, I strongly recommend checking them out. in a nutshell, they provide private communities to member-based organizations, mostly university & college alumni groups and professional associations. What is great about this for employers, is that you can take advantage of these trusted, verified networks to target the professional candidates you are seeking.
Social and professional networking for recruitment has become it’s own niche market. While, I don’t believe there are any silver bullets in this category, I do think it is wise to look beyond some of the more popular, often-hyped options. The strength of a network is based on it’s underlying community. Affinity Circles’ communities are developed in partnership with the organization (click here for the list) and the users associate with that organization, not just with website. The fact that the community is based around the organization lends some credibility to the relationships formed within the community.
Affinity Circles allows organizations to target specific professional attributes, develop a branded presence within a community, or allow employees to network amongst their own alumni and professional groups. All useful tools for most professional recruitment initiatives.
Additionally, from my experience, you will find the Affinity Circles team very pleasant and accommodating to work with – something I place a high value on. They are serious about partnering with employers and making their tools effective.
For some additional info on their product, you may want to read their whitepaper which details their take on the online community space.

We’re conducting a 3 month test right now. They do need to increase their footprint IMHO. AF appears to be good as A step/channel in pipeline building.

Thanks for the comment William! I agree, I think they are going to be a great source for quality candidates, especially for passive candidates that are hard to find through other channels. I’d love to hear how your test goes!

I’d love to hear from anyone that goes through a trial with this item. It’s interesting, but I’m waiting to see where exactly it’s heading from an employer standpoint and what recruiters find true value within it – outside of the obvioius.
Hope to hear more…
